BOKO HARAM suspects to be relocated - NLC

ONITSHA—Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in Anambra State has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to order the immediate relocation of the Boko Haram suspects recently transferred to Ekwulobia prisons in Anambra State to a maximum prison in the country.

Chairman of the union, Mr. Jerry Nnubia made the call at a press briefing at the union secretariat, Awka.

“ We condemn in its entirety the action of the Federal Government for relocating the suspected terrorists to Ekwulobia minimum prison that has no facility for such high profile in-mates. This is a period in Anambra we are breathing peace and security, courtesy of Governor Willie Obiano.

“They should be transferred or relocated to another place where they committed the crime and where they would be tried. This will stop the tension in Anambra state and indeed the South-East geopolitical zone.”

Nnubia further said: “We do not know if it is a grand design by the Federal Government or whoever may have contemplated the idea to infest us with this Boko Haram problem.”

He described the Federal Government action as irrational and suggested the suspects be relocated to the northern part of the country where they had been operating as insurgents.
