A major tragedy was averted yesterday 7th of July in a secondary school in Gombe State when men of the Nigerian police force uncovered a car laden with explosions that would have wrecked havoc in the area.
According to police source, bomb experts of the force discovered 12 improvised explosive devices IEDs loaded in a car that was abandoned on the premises of the state-run Pilot secondary school, following a tip-off.
Police spokesman of Gombe state, Fwaje Attajiri while confirming the incident said, “Our ordnance experts discovered 12 IEDs (improvised explosive devices) in the trunk of the car left in the vicinity of the school after we were alerted,” he said.
“The explosives had the capacity of causing maximum damage and would have caused huge casualty had they detonated in the school with a high student population,” he added.
The police are still carrying out investigations to fish out whoever that is behind it.
