U.S Doctor in Liberia Infected with Ebola

An American doctor in Liberia who is part of a team helping to battle the Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa, has himself been infected with the virus.

Kent Brantly is the doctor’s name, and he is a part of an aid agency called “Samaritan’s Purse,” which is also a Christian charity, Vanguard reports.

He is the medical director of the the agency’s Ebola case management center in Liberia, where they are working with both Liberian and international health officials to contain the outbreak.

Brantly, who is married with two children, has reportedly been isolated at the agency’s Ebola treatment center at ELWA hospital in Monrovia, Liberia.

“Samaritan’s Purse is committed to doing everything possible to help Dr Brantly during this time of crisis. We ask everyone to please pray for him and his family,” said the group, in a statement. Reuters
