Netherland Players Offered Free Trip To Space If They Win World Cup

Holland is one win away from reaching its second straight World Cup final. To get there, the team will have to get through a tough Lionel Messi and Argentina on Wednesday. After losing to Spain in the championship game in 2010, the Netherlands is trying to finally get over the hump of never winning a world title.

One Dutch company is offering the players some outer-worldly motivation to win it all.

According to Forbes, XCOR Aerospace is offering every member of the Dutch squad a free trip to space if they win the World Cup. That’s right. Lift the 13-pound trophy, then prepare to don a space suit to see the stars up close.

From XCOR:

“Being a Dutch firm, we feel extremely proud of our team’s current achievements in Brazil. The breathtaking goal of Robin van Persie, and all newspaper headlines about ‘The Flying Dutchman’ have inspired us to also do something extra. We will literally try to take them to the next level; 103 km. The whole selection of 23 players and of course Louis van Gaal.”
Hopefully Van Gaal doesn’t make a last-minute decision to swap out Jasper Cillessen for Tim Krul on the space ride.”

The Dutch are hoping the fourth time’s the charm. After all, with XCOR’s offer, finally winning a World Cup title would truly give another meaning to “out of this world.”
