Suleiman Abba, the Acting Inspector General of Police, has been confirmed as the new Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force. He was confirmed on Tuesday, 4 November, by President Goodluck Jonathan following a Police council meeting which was held at the Presidential Villa. Following the retirement of his predecessor, Mohammed Abubakar, he was appointed acting IGP on 31 July. Abba was a former Aide-De-Camp, ADC, to the wife of a former military Head of State, Maryam Abacha. He was promoted to the rank of acting AIG on 22 February 2012, and he’s due for retirement on 22 March 2019.
