Super Eagle midfielder John Obi Mikel allegedly assaulted a female journalist who asked him for an interview while on international duty with Nigeria.
Mikel was apparently leaving a training session with his national team when the reporter from KISS FM in Abuja approached him.
She is said to have asked the Blues midfielder for an interview to discuss Nigeria’s forthcoming matches but an irritated Mikel then lashed out.
According to Metro UK, the details were reported by BBC broadcaster Oluwashina Okeleji, who says that the journalist has since forgiven Mikel for the incident.
It’s not the first time this week that Mikel has been accused of trouble with the media, with sports writer Colin Udoh tweeting that he’d been verbally abused while asking questions.
