Tragedy struck at Ika South and Ika North local government areas of Delta State in the early hours of yesterday, around the popular MTD area in Agbor, Ika South, after unknown gunmen killed a 42-year-old housewife, Mrs Chichi Dickson, and dumped the body in a gutter.
Although, there were conflicting intrigues surrounding her death, as unconfirmed sources said that the body was discovered in the pool of her blood in an apartment she shared with her husband’s younger brother.
But police detectives in Agbor, as at the time of filing this report, were busy ransacking every nooks and crannies, including conducting a stop-and-search investigation with a view to uncovering and bringing to book the hoodlums who committed the dastard act.
While the police public relations officer in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, said the police would do everything possible to unravel the misery behind the bizarre murder of the housewife, she disclosed that the late Chichi Dickson, an Ordinary National Diploma holder in Business Administration from the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Enugu, was married to one Onyemarie Dickson, who is currently working in Europe.
She said that the body of the victim was found in a gutter, adding that before the police moved in, some persons in the area claimed that the body was initially found in her apartment already dead, a situation she described as conflicting, assuring that the police will do everything possible to ascertain the root cause of her death.
Speaking to our correspondent, her mother, Mrs Blessing Odeze, in profuse tears, said that her daughter was in the church in the early hours for a programme when she received a phone call from someone demanding to see her urgently.
She explained that unknown to her, agents of death were waiting for her as she never returned to continue with the church programme as she was doing before the killer call came.
